Alice Baumgartner

Alice Baumgartner

Alice Baumgartner is a Ph.D. candidate in History at Yale University. For her research, she often finds herself reading about generals getting their heads cut off and fried in oil, and the like. She enjoys novels about less lurid subjects, such as art, motorcycles, deathbed confessions, ocean voyages, and misbegotten love. Her favorite work of contemporary fiction is Home by Marilynne Robinson, whose beautiful prose more than makes up for its lack of motorcycles.

Alice has appeared on the following episodes of Book Talk:

Episode 10: The Hundred-Year House by Rebecca Makkai
Episode 14: Girl Through Glass by Sari Wilson
Episode 18: Imagine Me Gone by Adam Haslett
Episode 24: The Unseen World by Liz Moore
Episode 32: The Winter in Anna by Reed Karaim
Episode 36: The Gargoyle Hunters by John Freeman Gill
Episode 38: All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg

Alice will appear on the upcoming episode of Book Talk:

Episode 46: The Chalk Artist by Allegra Goodman
