Alfred Guy

Alfred Guy

Alfred Guy's mother taught him to read so that she could busy him while caring for his nearly Irish-twin little brother. The greatest discovery he ever made was that you really could read under the covers with a flashlight, and he's eternally grateful to the fourth grade classmate who turned him onto both the Little House books and The Hobbit. He's been a writing teacher and writing program director since 1988, and he's currently the R.W.B. Lewis Director of Writing at Yale, where he also teaches courses on science fiction and fantasy literature and film. He's reread almost every book he ever liked, and he is in the small minority of people who have read all the Harry Potter books but still prefer the movies.

Alfie has appeared on the following episodes of Book Talk:

Episode 10: The Hundred-Year House by Rebecca Makkai
Episode 12: Bellweather Rhapsody by Kate Racculia
